My Portfolio
Welcome to my portfolio. I created this space to share the work I have completed as a student in Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts. My studies have taught me to think across fields and to connect ideas that at first seem very different. I enjoy learning this way because it helps me understand problems more fully (and it allows me to be creative in how I approach them).
Here, you will find projects that show how I think and how I communicate. Each project comes from a different area of study. Together, they show my interest in writing, research, media, and social issues. They also show my growth as a student and as someone preparing for a professional path in public relations, advertising, journalism, sales, or marketing.
My work often focuses on topics that affect people in real life. I chose these pieces because they each taught me something important about communication and society. I hope you enjoy exploring my portfolio. Thank you for taking the time to visit and learn about my work.
Critical Project Reflection
This project helped me understand how mental health stigma works in society. I learned that no single field can explain this problem fully. Sociology helped me see power and inequality. Psychology helped me understand the emotional and cognitive effects. Journalism helped me see how media shapes public opinions and stereotypes. I realized that each discipline gives only part of the picture (and that I need all of them to understand the whole issue).
Working on this project also changed how I think. I learned how important it is to admit when we are wrong about our assumptions. I also learned that better education and better information can reduce stigma. This project showed me that interdisciplinary thinking is not just an academic idea. It is a real way to create better solutions for complex problems.
Podcast Reflection
This podcast helped me practice explaining complex ideas in a simple and creative way. I learned how to make familiar connections (such as linking class texts to my topic) and unfamiliar ones (ideas that at first seem unrelated but actually expand understanding). I also practiced speaking with confidence and organizing ideas so listeners can follow them easily. This skill is important for communication fields like public relations and marketing.
Creating the podcast also taught me how different disciplines support each other. I made connections between sociology, psychology, and literature. I also saw how storytelling can make academic information easier for people to understand. This project showed me that communication is powerful (especially when we use it to discuss sensitive issues like mental health).
Sociology Paper Reflection
This paper helped me understand poverty using sociology instead of only personal opinions. I learned how conflict theory explains inequality and how power affects access to education, healthcare, jobs, and social mobility. The research showed me how poverty is not just about money. It is also about systems that give advantages to some groups and barriers to others.
Writing this paper also helped me become a stronger researcher. I had to look at statistics, academic studies, and real social patterns. I learned how to connect these ideas in a clear way. This assignment taught me to think critically about social problems and to communicate what I learn in a way that others can understand.
My work often focuses on topics that affect people in real life. I chose these pieces because they each taught me something important about communication and society. I hope you enjoy exploring my portfolio. Thank you for taking the time to visit and learn about my work.
